On August 12, a delegation led by president Lu Jing visited the Liberian Registry China Office and was warmly received by alumni of SMU, including Mr. Ye Bo, the current chief representative of the Liberia Maritime Authority in China.
President Lu Jing learned in detail about the core business of the Liberian Registry, inquired about the learning and working conditions of our alumni, and fully listened to their suggestions for SMU’s construction and development. He said that SMU is grasping the favorable opportunities of the construction of Shanghai International Shipping Center and continues to promote the construction of a high-level maritime university with global influence. It is hoped to strengthen the connection with the industry, actively meet the needs of the industry, and cultivate high-quality talents for the industry.
Mr. Ye Bo introduced the related contents of the open registration of ships and maritime safety management from the aspects of organizational structure, flag state responsibilities, flag risks, and overview of the Liberian Registry. He hopes to strengthen communication and exchanges with SMU, promote complementary advantages in resources, and deepen related cooperations on talent training and project research.
