From August 5th to 14th, the 22nd China University Basketball League Two kicked off at Donghua University in Shanghai. 34 teams from more than 20 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities across the country participated. SMU Women's Basketball Team won the third place in the National Finals of the 22nd China University Basketball League Two.
The men's and women's basketball teams of SMU have respectively won the 2019 CUBA Shanghai Division Championships. In the National Finals of the 22nd China University Basketball League Two in 2020, SMU represented universities of Shanghai to carry out intense competition with other outstanding teams from different regions of China. Under the guide of the team leader Shao Changzhuan and coaches Xu Feng and Jiang Hongke, the women's basketball players, who participated in the national competition for the first time, didn’t fare the strong opponents and defeated Fujian Normal University and Minzu University of China that won the championship last year, ranking first in the group.
In the quarter-finals on August 11, SMU played against the China Medical University. The SMU women's basketball team was in a state of strength and finally won the game in 40:24. In the semifinals on August 12, SMU played against Zhejiang Gongshang University. Due to two main forwards suffered injuries, SMU finally lost in 49:54. On the afternoon of August 13th, SMU played against the Xi'an Siyuan University. The SMU women's basketball team played well and finally defeated the opponents in 55:34 and won the third place in this competition.
SMU women’s basketball players showed their fearless fighting spirit on the court, brought glory to SMU and won honor for Shanghai basketball.
