MTCC-Asia Malaysia Maritime Technology Training Program was held at SMU

On November 2nd, MTCC-Asia Malaysia Maritime Technology Training Program - Regional Ship Energy Efficiency Technology Pormotion Campaign was held at SMU. Mr. Shi Xin, Vice President of SMU, attended the ceremony and delivered a speech. Heads of MTCC Asia, as well as 25 official representatives of Malaysia's national and local maritime authorities attended the online opening ceremony.

Mr. Shi Xin introduced the general situation of SMU and reviewed the cooperation history with the maritime authorities and institutes in Malaysia. He hoped that in the future, the two sides could cooperate in shipping, transport, maritime management and other fields, and continue contributing to the development of the shipping industry in Asia.

The training was jointly sponsored by SMU, MTCC Asia and Maritime Institute of Malaysia and co-organized by Merchant Marine College of SMU and Maritime Transport Association of Malaysia. The training is carried out through the Internet. The content includes the development process of ship energy efficiency technology, the theory and practice of reducing ship speed to achieve emission reduction, and the on-site introduction of the comprehensive engine room laboratory of SMU. It aims to spread the IMO MARPLOL Annex VI - greenhouse gas technology, conventions and maritime standards, IMO sulfur emission caps, support the IMO initiative to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote the implementation of the "Belt and Road" initiative.

As one of the annual plans of the MTCC Asia, this training is an in-depth point-to-point exchange with Asian maritime countries, which can improve the energy efficiency technology and operation level of ships in the Asian region. MTCC Asia will also carry out one-on-one technical training activities with Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Indonesia, the Philippines and other countries.
