On June 15th, a delegation headed by Janis Dzerins, the Executive Director of Liepaja Maritime College in Latvia visited Shanghai Maritime University. Ruan Wei, Director of International Office and Dean of International Education College met with the delegation. Teachers from Merchant Marine College and other relevant departments also attended the meeting.
Ruan Wei extended a warm welcome to the guests of Liepaja Maritime College and briefly introduced the development achievements of Shanghai Maritime University in recent years. He said that since the establishment of the cooperative relationship between Shanghai Maritime University and Liepaja Maritime College, there have been many teacher exchange visits. He hoped that this visit would serve as an opportunity to further enhance mutual understanding, promote cooperation in areas such as student exchange programs and the participation of Latvian students in the 2+2 or 3+1 programs, and seek common development.
After the meeting, the delegation from Liepaja Maritime College visited the Ship Handling Simulator, Hybrid Liquid-cargo mock-up and Ship Integrated Automation Engine Room of Shanghai Maritime University.
Liepaja Maritime College, located in Liepaja, a coastal town in southern Latvia near the Baltic Sea, was established in 1876. It is one of the oldest universities in Latvia with more than 1,000 students. Liepaja Maritime College signed a cooperation agreement with Shanghai Maritime University in 2015.
