Delegation of Malaysian Maritime Academy Delegation Visited SMU

On April 22, a delegation of 25 representatives including Ahmad Khodzali Eddie Adrianto, CEO of Malaysian Maritime Academy(Akademi Laut Malaysia), and Subramaniam Manivannan, Deputy Ketua Eksekutif of Malaysian Maritime Academy, visited Shanghai Maritime University. They were warmly received by Shi Xin, Vice President of SMU alongside officials from the International Office, Merchant Marine College.

Shi Xin extended a warm welcome to the delegation and highlighted the latest developments in maritime education at our university. He expressed hopes for future collaboration with Malaysian Maritime Academy in areas such as overseas campuses, academic exchanges, and technical cooperation, aiming to advance higher maritime education.

Ahmad Khodzali Eddie Adrianto shared recent developments at Malaysian Maritime Academy and expressed aspirations for increased collaboration and exchanges between the two sides, particularly in the field of chemical tanker education and training.

Discussions during the visit focused on joint educational programs, faculty and student exchanges and hosting advanced maritime training programs.

During their stay, the Malaysian Maritime Academy representatives visited SMU Ship Integrated Automation Engine Room and other educational facilities. Faculty from the Merchant Marine College and International Education College delivered academic lectures titled Digital Shipping, Green Shipping and A Glimpse of Chinese Maritime History and Culture.

Established in 1977, Malaysian Maritime Academy is Malaysia's first official academy dedicated to advanced maritime education and training.
