On April 29th, Zhou Jianfeng, the Managing Director of Wah Kwong Maritime Transport Holdings Limited (referred to as Wah Kwong), and his delegation visited Shanghai Maritime University. SMU president, Chu Beiping, welcomed the guests.

Chu Beiping extended a warm welcome to the visitors and introduced the background of the Cloud Enabled Maritime University, along with the innovative achievements in the fields of artificial intelligence and big data in teaching and research. He stated that the university is using the Cloud Enabled Maritime University as a foundation to advance digital transformation in internal governance, industry-academia-research collaboration, international education and non-degree training. He expressed hope that the university would work with Wah Kwong to build a blended online-offline lifelong education system for seafarers, explore new models for data governance, sharing, and application, and cultivate more internationally competitive interdisciplinary talents for the shipping industry, contributing to its high-quality development.

Zhou Jianfeng introduced the development of Wah Kwong and its practices in intelligent ship management. He mentioned that Wah Kwong's business is expanding rapidly, and there is an urgent need to leverage new technologies such as artificial intelligence and big data to enhance ship management efficiency. He expressed hope that Shanghai Maritime University could leverage its advantages in the Cloud Enabled Maritime University and international education resources, and strengthen cooperation in ship management technology applications, data system construction, and personnel training, offering strong support for the digital transformation of ship management and talent development at Wah Kwong, achieving complementary advantages and mutual growth.

The two sides conducted in-depth exchanges on data foundation construction, artificial intelligence applications, international education cooperation projects and research cooperation in ship management.
