On September 15, a delegation from the Indonesian National Shipowners Association, led by Faty Khusumo, Advisor/Owner of PT Temas TBK/Temas Group, visited the university. The delegation consisted of six members and was accompanied by Ye Tong, Executive Vice President of the Indonesia Alumni Association and Assistant to the General Manager of Frontier Logistics (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. The delegation was received by Vice President Yin Ming of Shanghai Maritime University, along with representatives from the International Office, the International Education College, and the Merchant Marine College, as well as other relevant departments.
Vice President Yin Ming welcomed the delegation and emphasized that the university focuses on the fields of shipping, logistics, and maritime affairs, with a commitment to talent development and research in areas such as smart, green, and safe technologies. The university is deeply involved in research and training related to ship energy efficiency, green fuels, port and shipping digital twins, blockchain in shipping, multimodal transport, maritime communications, intelligent navigation, maritime digital governance, and innovations in arbitration systems.
Faty Khusumo introduced the Indonesian National Shipowners Association and highlighted the transformation challenges facing the shipping industry, particularly in terms of digitalization and sustainability. He stressed the need for improving the skills of Indonesian seafarers, particularly in training for dual-fuel new ships, and expressed interest in collaborating with the university.
The visit also included in-depth discussions on maritime education and training, as well as international certification for seafarers.
During their visit, Faty Khusumo and his delegation toured the university's teaching facilities, including the special vessel Wusong and the automated engine room.
