On May 12, a delegation of 18 students from the "Maritime Business Society" of Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, visited the university. Vice President Yin Ming received the delegation, and the head of the International Office participated in the meeting.
On behalf of the university, Yin Ming extended a warm welcome to the delegation and reviewed the fruitful cooperation achievements made since the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two universities in 2023, specifically in the "3+1+1" joint training program, student exchange programs, and summer study programs. He expressed appreciation for the NTU students' initiative in conducting international exchanges and gaining an in-depth understanding of the roles of China and Shanghai in the fields of international shipping and maritime services. He expressed hope that this exchange would serve as an opportunity to continuously enhance communication and connection between the maritime industry's future talents from both countries, and to promote the cooperation between the two universities to a deeper level and broader fields.
During the visit, Professor Liu Yaqiong from the College of International Education delivered an academic lecture titled "Introduction to Chinese Maritime History and Culture" to the visiting students. The delegation also conducted on-site visits to the university's navigation simulator and school history museum, gaining an immersive understanding of the university's history and its distinctive maritime characteristics.
This event further deepened the friendship between the two universities and laid a foundation for further expanding their cooperation. Through face-to-face discussions and field visits, students from both sides inspired each other through the collision of different educational backgrounds and maritime cultures, broadened their international horizons, and enhanced their understanding of the development of the global maritime industry.
