On June 29, Shanghai Maritime University (SMU) officially held its 2026 International Summer School Program. The program brought together 18 Copenhagen Business School students from Denmark, Germany, the United Kingdom, Norway and elsewhere in Europe, five students from the University of Piraeus in Greece, and five SMU students. Vice President Yin Ming, officials from SMU's International Education College, and faculty and student representatives from the program attended the opening ceremony.
In his remarks, Vice President Yin Ming welcomed the students who had traveled from across Europe and reviewed the history of the partnership. Since the Shanghai Maritime University-Copenhagen Business School Summer School was first launched in 2019, the program has continued to grow. This year, the University of Piraeus formally joined the initiative, further broadening its international outlook and enriching its cultural dimension. Yin noted that this year's program continues to center on the themes of “Empowerment through Innovation” and “Cross-Cultural Collaboration.” Over four weeks, participants will take specialized courses, engage in dialogue sessions with industry leaders, and participate in field visits. These activities are designed to help them explore emerging issues in maritime affairs and international business while strengthening their critical thinking and intercultural collaboration skills in a learning environment that brings together Chinese and Western perspectives.
As an important component of SMU's China-Europe exchange initiatives, this year's joint summer school provides students from China and abroad with a high-quality platform for academic exchange. It also deepens the scope and substance of SMU's cooperation with its European partner universities.
