Chinese Government Scholarship – “High-Level Graduate Program”

The Chinese Government Scholarship – “High-Level Graduate Program” is a full scholarship established by the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China. It aims to support Chinese universities in recruiting outstanding international students for graduate-level studies in China.

Application Process

Step 1:
Applicants must submit applications through both the Chinese Government Scholarship website (http://www.campuschina.org) and the Shanghai Maritime University (SMU) online application system (https://gjy.shmtu.edu.cn/register) no later than February 1, 2026.

Step 2:
Shanghai Maritime University will conduct a materials review, interviews, and a preliminary scholarship evaluation by March 10, 2026, in order to determine the list of nominated candidates and issue pre-admission notices.

Step 3:
Nominated candidates must complete the scholarship application process by submitting the pre-admission notice by March 15, 2026.

Step 4:
In accordance with the principle of individual application, institutional recommendation, expert review, and selective admission, the China Scholarship Council (CSC) will organize a panel of experts to carry out a final evaluation. The assessment will consider applicants’ academic performance, overall quality, development potential, and other relevant factors. Final admission decisions will be made based on this evaluation.

Scholarship Review Policy

The scholarship committee will conduct a comprehensive annual review of scholarship recipients, taking into account their academic records, learning attitude, overall performance, as well as any awards or disciplinary actions received. Students who fail to meet the required standards may have their scholarship suspended or revoked.
